Join us and meet up with old friends, make new friends, and learn what you need to know to remain compliant with regulations. 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. 9:00 – 10 a.m. Melanie Roth-Lawson, Trainer and Emergency Response Coordinator, Health Facility Education and Quality Branch, CDPHE Attend this session to learn about the core elements of an emergency preparedness plan, what the state looks for in a plan and any compliance gaps. Melanie will provide tools and resources available to support assisted living providers with disaster planning and emergency preparedness. 10 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. Fire Prevention Branch Chief Jay Wilmott will cover what’s happening at the division including fire and life safety trends, common deficiencies found during inspections, current and upcoming regulation and policy changes, and answer your questions. 10:45 - 11:15 a.m. 11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Suzanne Wicklund, REHS, Environmental Protection Specialist II, Division of Environmental Health & Sustainability, CDPHE Attend this session to learn about the food safety requirements for assisted living, any recent regulation changes, and resources available to maintain compliance. Suzanne will discuss general requirements for staff training, food preparation and serving. She will also discuss recent survey trends related to food code and how to avoid getting cited. 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. Peggy Kozal, member, Dickinson Wright Keeping up with changing state and federal regulations is critical, including those related to resident care, safety standards, and facility operations. Topics covered will include legal updates on measures needed to comply with disability accommodations, best practices for resident privacy and security, and responding when local police departments investigate resident injuries and death. 1:45 - 2:00 p.m. 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. A representative of the Health Facilities & Emergency Medical Services Division, Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment will cover the following topics:
